Solar Powar 101 – How is Solar Energy Used?

Tommy Brown asked:
Solar power… quite a mystery to some, and probably one of the greatest discovery for mankind. Solar power, normally derived from the rays coming from our sun. Our sun… without it, our planet will freeze and all living lifeforms in our planet will die. The sun can provide us more than enough energy to use… if we can harness it all. But how is solar energy used? There are still people out there who do not know the purpose of solar energy and the advantages it can provide for us.

So, let’s ask… how is solar energy used?

The power of solar energy can be used by converting the sun ray’s into electricity with the use of solar panels. You probably have seen one before. These solar panels then supply us the power to the appliances use in our own home.

Another use is, solar power works by converting the sun ray’s into heat with a solar thermal collectors for to use warming water. For example, like a swimming pool, or the use for heating water for baths.

Solar energy can also be used for dis-infections and distillation on water around the globe. Some can use solar for cooking and drying. Many of today’s technologies have employ the use of the sun for industrial chemical production, smelting metal, and using for material testing with high temperature.

Mostly, solar power is used for converting into electrical current for daily appliances. The use of solar panels employ in areas that have high count of sunny seasons. The photovoltaic cells can be used through the light of the sun which will convert the energy into electric.

It’s not the heat of the sun that provide the energy, it’s actually the sun-ray itself. Depending on the day and the location will vary on the efficient of gathering energy. Locations that’s cloudy won’t be as efficient in generating electricity than in area that’s sunny most of the time.
